TREATMENT
What is the brief and how have you interpreted it?
The brief informs how Freeview has approached me to 'refresh' an ident cycle for one of their channels. They want the audience to acknowledge a fresher look of the chosen channel and be reminded of its value and entertainment. The campaign should either be a 1 x 60 second feature ident or 2 x 30 second idents.
The way I have interpreted this brief is that Freeview are asking to revive a channel that needs to be reminded to the audience of its authenticity. Therefore, I have chosen the channel 'CBBC' as who I`d like to create idents for. I must create an ident that caters to the target audience of the channel.
What is the purpose of your ident?
The purpose of my ident is that I will bring a playful mood and lift up the viewer`s spirits. Idents are vital to keeping the attention of the audience, hence why I shall create ideas that are unique and entertaining.
Synopsis of my idea:
I have chosen to create 2 x 30 second idents that both correspond with each other. This is because one of them will air during the afternoon, and the second one will continue on into the evening until schedules are finished.
Initial Idea 1:
For my first idea for an ident it will be scheduled from 12pm - 5pm. I have chosen my ident to appear between this timing as it is suited for the afternoon, as a casual yet playful video. My ident will consist of a cat walking around a house; until there is a birds eye view of him walking over a spelling of CBBC. Then there will be the usual chanting of "CBBC!", with a meow sound effect at the end. I am debating whether to have cat treats spelling out 'CBBC', or cardboard cut-out filled with colourful materials. This ident will contain music that is used from previous idents, however the instruments will change to fit the concept.

Initial idea 3:
For my third idea it will air from 5pm to 7pm. As the schedules for the CBBC channel end at 7pm, this ident can help be a way to greet the audience 'goodnight'. The ident will be composed of two young siblings lying in bed together playing with shadow puppets they have made from cardboard cut-out and sticks, as they shine them onto the bedroom ceiling. As it reaches the part where the children whisper-chant "CBBC!", there will be 4 shadow sticks, each having the letter to spell out "CBBC". I have chosen this idea for the ident as it creates a playful, restful mood for the audience. When seeing the activity take place on TV, it gives a sense of creativity and mischievousness. The background music will be the usual theme tune but changed to become more quieter, and fit the 'bedtime shenanigans' concept.

Who are my target audience and how will it appeal to them?
AGE: 6-12; however 12-16 can also enjoy it.
GENDER: Both genders; as there is no specific way of telling which gender is more targeted.
INTERESTS: Children; cats; playing
LOCATION: UK; as this channel is based in the UK.
ETHNICITY: Any; but the child actors in Initial Idea 2 bring South Asian representation.
What medium are you working in?
The medium I am working on is an audio-visual promo.
What is the running time for each ident?
For my first ident idea, it`ll air from 12pm - 5pm, as it is going to be shown in the afternoon.
For my second ident idea, it`ll air from 5pm - 7pm, as it is going to be shown to indicate nearing/closing time for the tv schedules.
